Cove Mountain is part of Great Smoky Mountains National Park. The park is located in Western North Carolina near the border with Tennessee and South Carolina. It was established by Congress in 1934 and is managed by the National Park Service. The park contains many beautiful mountains and forests as well as some popular attractions such as waterfalls and caves. Cove Mountain is a relatively small mountain (4,139 feet) compared to most others in the region but it offers some excellent views from its summit. The best time to go hiking on Cove Mountain is between April and October when the weather is more consistent than during the winter months.

There are several ways to get to the top of Cove Mountain. This 8-mile round-trip trail passes through thickets of sweet gums and pine trees as well as open fields with wildflowers in summertime.

Whitetail Peak is part of the Gallatin Range, which extends from Montana into Wyoming. This range was created by glaciers during the last ice age. Most of the peaks are relatively low, but there are a few high points over 9,000 feet here and there too. The best time to go to Whitetail Peak is in summer when it isn't too hot outside and you won't need a jacket.

The trail starts out near Shadow Lake and follows the west fork of Bullfrog Creek before turning north onto Whitetail Ridge. After about 3 miles, you will reach the summit where you can see parts of Gallatin National Forest, Crow Indian Reservation, and Beaverhead County. You can also see some power lines on the horizon from the coal mines in the area.

You can stay at the Whitetail Peak Lodge if you want, but there aren't any food options there except for coffee and snacks. The closest real town is Laurel, which is about an hour away. There are also some campsites at the base of the mountain if you want to camp there.
